As it's getting cooler outside my jeep is getting hard to start. For now it has a Solex carb on it and the choke cable is connected to an external linkage. But the carb has no choke plate in it. How does the choke circuit on these carbs work? Thanks.

Solex uses an enrichment circuit that by passes the throttle plate instead of a choke plate in the throat of the carb, that "Chokes" off the air flow through the carb, creating a vacuum in the venturi that draws fuel out of the main jet and idle circuit. Since the main jet needle shuts fuel flow off at the idle position, ( or is supposed to ), a little throttle opens the main jet circuit up and supplies more fuel.

Thanks Rick for the explanation. I think I would prefer the WO style.
