After reading all the information here, I've decided to rebuild the YF that came on my 1964 CJ5. I need to replace the rear main seal and the body's off, so it will probably be a while to find out if it's a success. The carb kept flooding and I thought the float might have a pin hole but the fuel pump is putting out 10 psi. I put on a fuel pressure regulator and I'll test it again after the rebuild. Here's what I have to work with. The YS on the M38A1 seems to be good but the bad valve seals pump oil out the exhaust.
I't be a while but I'm gonna order the rebuild kit and work on it over the winter. I put a link to the carbs I have, but I have to bring it up in a new window. Thanks, Dave

Dave, is there a spacer between the pump and block?

Good call. Looks like I'm missing a spacer. Will this need the spacer like the one on my M38A1? Hope this picture shows uip. Thanks, Dave

If it’s a double action pump, yes.

Thanks for the information. If that fuel pump has a spacer, it's not much of one. I have one for the M38A1 and it's thick. I'll source one for the CJ5.
Looks like someone before me has been fighting this problem in the past. Once I understand more about the system, I can undo what the PO tried.
Thanks,
Dave
