Question- is the hole at approximately the middle of the picture supposed to be exposed? It looks like it is missing a plug. (I removed the large screw for better observation.) I was experiencing hideous flooding while trying to start the jeep, so I removed the carb to check thefloat setting, etc. when I discovered this. As far as I can tell, this carb is a 539s. if the hole should be plugged, will there be plugs in rebuild kits? Using JB Weld or something similiar does not seem safe or appropriate. Thoughts? How backed up are you these days...especially returning from the jeep gathering?

That hole is a metered vent for the pump jet in that passage. DO NOT plug it. I’m up to my quite substantial butt in work. It’s going to be about two weeks before I could get to it. But I am expecting more so it’s up to you. Remember, in my shop it’s first come first served.
