The lack of patent numbers on the bowl would tend to lead me to believe you have a NOS Hotchkiss/ Willys of France Carter WO636SA.

I aggree with Scout , it's junk also. Send it to me and I'll save you all the grief and get rid of it for you! Nice looking carburator. I have a similar one and it runs perfect. Besides the absence of of float bowl patents, the lower end of the pump rod has the clip instead of the turnbuckle and spring. Weren't those a later kit up grade Scout? Did all carter original carbs have the spring and turnbuckle affair? John

The rod clip was a later “improvement”. With regards the early wide spread use of the spring and clip, I believe they only came about for the WO series at first. Chevrolet seemed to like that design in particular.
