Yup I agree with the author on that advice. Too many time wasting "exercises" trying to gauge how people feel instead of what needs to be done. I'm glad that those days are behind me now.

One of the problems is that this is pervasive in government rules and regulatory bodies. We ain't out of the woods yet. Not by a long shot. Think Medicare, the VA, Social Security.

It's worse ---- don't forget the U.S. military.
That crapola is very well entrenched in the so-called "Department of Defense" and gaining ground every day.
It started when they changed the name from "The War Department" after WW2, and hasn't stopped since.
"Secretary of War" is a much better title than "Secretary of Defense" ever was or will be.
Too bad we lost the bubble.........

I deal with this in the medical sector - even in IT. I once questioned the findings and recommendation of a consultancy firm here and was taken aside by a trusted confidant who suggested "you're going to want to leave this one alone if you want to keep working here". Apparently there's some strange bedfellows lining each others' pockets, and as this is a "right to work" state they can shift me out if they have the desire to. Funny that *I* have to sign a bunch of "Conflict of Interest" documentation every year, then find shit like this out. Funny as in it's OK for them, but not me - the little guy. None of these folks are worth the dumps they take, in my book.
