I'm very proud of him too. Elijah kept calm and made the 125 yard shot better than many seasoned hunters. We still had to track down the deer but he only made it a few hundred yards. The boys enjoyed tracking as much as anything else. I couldn't have asked for a better day.

The BS about his rifle not a hunting rifle is false also. My grandson uses a similar one in 6.5 creedmore.

That's a great story about a terrific event. A boy learning a real skill, and succeeding. I'm sure that story will be told and re-told over venison steaks all winter long. Goodonya!!
That's a very nice rifle. What caliber is it? Having a can on it probably makes it more pleasant to use as a hunting rifle. You're spoiling him Dad! (LOL!)

The rifle is chambered in .223 Wylde. The field we were in has distances approaching 350 yards and fearing he would anticipate recoil with an unfamiliar rifle, this set up was the best option I have a for a boy. I don't like wearing hearing protection on hunts and this rifle has some bark, so I brought along the suppressor. Using dad's cool gear also added to the excitement for him.
He has his own AR and I built it for him to grow into. It currently has a dedicated .22lr barrel, bolt carrier and suppressor but otherwise 100% AR. When he's ready we will swap those out for something larger.
