I dont understand this system. If the engine creates vacuum, and it is tied to the pcv on the valve cover, why is the fuel pump creating vacuum and also tied to the same line? For low vacuum situations to keep a vacuum on the pcv? I ask this because my line to the vac portion of fuel pump was there, just dangling and not hooked up. I just dont understand how the two opposing vaccums work in conjunction with each other. Thanks

Originally, the vacuum pump was the so-called answer to the windshield wiper issue. That being the wipers powered by an L134 worked fine at idle but stalled/failed under acceleration. The additional vacuum was meant to augment manifold vacuum. At about that same time, electric wipers were introduced, and rather than scrap a design, the engineers determined it could be plumbed into the PCV system to augment its operation on the F-134. The two vacuum sources do not oppose one another.

Ok..so i will be connecting that system back together the way it was supposed to be. Seems crazy but i will connect it. I wont use vac wipers, i will be putting electric wipers on. Thanks!

Oops i forgot, does crankcase gases get into the vac pump? Wouldnt that hurt the pump? Should i just go directly from manifold to pcv valve? Skip the vac pump, or should it all be connected as one?
