A big howdy to all Willys fanatics! About to undertake a overdue rebuild of my WO and valve adjustment on my ‘46 CJ2A L134. (1st vehicle owned since 1971.) The engine runs great but when warm ‘chugs’ at idle and backfires when backing off throttle going downhill. Hummmm... Last done at my frame off restoration/engine overhaul maybe 25 years ago. I rebuilt the engine, Bernie my Navy WW2 vet pro rebuilt the WO. The unknown intricacies scared me off at the time. Not now. I’ve learned a lot and do all my own work. I successfully rebuilt a YF and fuel pump in newly acquired 1950 Jeepster L161 last summer that had slept for 15 years. Poked around Scoutpilots forum as a guest for months now (finally joined today) and found WO instructions so here I go with a Carter master kit and instructions. The only thing that concerns me are the bushings. We’ll see. Hoping to get her done for the spring Willys Reunion if not sooner. Wish me luck. Here I go...

When reaming for the bushings DO NOT go all of the way through. Go only as deep as the bushing is long. Leave a shoulder at the inner wall so the bushing sits against it.
Good luck! We're here if you need us.
