I just received a Carter ceramic filter, now I need to install it. Before I start, I have a few questions.
Should I use some sort of sealant on the 1/8 NPT connections between the fuel pump, carburetor, and filter? How far is too far when screwing in the 1/8 NPT fittings to the fuel pump, carb and filter?
How much torque should be applied to the screw holding the glass bowl? Is there a top/bottom to the gasket? The gasket seems to have indentions from the glass bowl.
My filter looks like this red one:

Should I use some sort of sealant on the 1/8 NPT connections between the fuel pump, carburetor, and filter? You can use a few wraps of Teflon Tape. Keep the tip of the fitting clean.
How far is too far when screwing in the 1/8 NPT fittings to the fuel pump, carb and filter? You can turn the fitting in until it squeaks.
How much torque should be applied to the screw holding the glass bowl? If it's not leaking, don't tighten any further.
Is there a top/bottom to the gasket? The gasket seems to have indentions from the glass bowl. No top or bottom. Indentations indicate a good seal. My filter looks like this red one:
