with L134 in jeep. any of you wizards have a slick trick to remove the pulley without bending/distorting? I have not tried yet, may not be a problem, asking just in case.

I’ve used a 3 has puller. That being said it’s not super nice on the pulley. If it’s stuck it will bend it.

I destroyed all three stamped sheet metal versions while pulling them off by using a number of different approaches. I'm not sure it's possible to get them off without ruining them. I replaced all 3 with cast versions.

I've used heat with good effect. I used a hot air gun to warm up the pulley collar around the crankshaft. Shoot some PBblasteron the shaft. Tap on the collar with a small hammer to see if it will move. Then I used a 3-leg puller after again hitting the shaft with PB blaster. pulley popped right off. Luckily there was no rust between pulley and shaft. In the for what it's worth department.

I ended up using a flat bar type prybar and carefully worked around the back side. A fixture like a large bearing separator that fits the belt groove of the pulley would be best. While prying with the bar, I tapped on the crank using a soft brass hammer. Why they didn't put threaded holes for a puller is a mystery.

Sounds like the BFH and pry bar is out of the question.

the big guns were not employed. gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet was all it took. thanks for the replies fellas.
