In the kit I ordered from Ron Fitzpatrick's Jeep Parts, there were two nozzles. I replaced the main nozzle (shown on the left) but where does the one on the right go? This is my first time rebuilding a carb and I really wanted to learn how it worked. Plus I figured I had directions, with pictures, but boy some of the pieces look the same on the small pictures from the Carter manual. Luckily I took a bunch of pictures before I started and tried to keep things separate. Thanks for doing this site - it's been a big help too.

Simply put, the one on the left is for the 636S and SA. The one on the right is for the 539S and earlier models. The passage for the 636 has two faces opposite each other. Next time you go into a main body, look in the nozzle passage and you will see the design. Neither will correctly fit the other. The kit is set up to accommodate both models as the majority of the parts are identical.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. It really threw me for a loop last night.
