Yup, a functioning p-brake is mandatory. You don't always have time to find and place a rock behind the tire or park against a berm. If I recall, the cable is clamped 3X. Behind the cane on the oil filter bracket, on the rt side bell housing and lastly at the transmission cross member. (on a 3A, anyway).
