Hello all, I'm Doug, long time member over at the CJ3B Bulletin Board, and now on the 3A/3B Boards. I've had my 63 3B since 2005 and have rebuilt nearly every component, including the Carter 938SD with a Carter Zip Kit I found online. I've adjusted the carb a bunch of times and checked timing, but she always runs rich. Exhaust fumes will give you a headache after riding around all day and the plugs are always black. I know I have something going on, but haven't gotten to the bottom of it yet. I see a lot of interesting sections of this board, so I look forward to poking around learning something. Hopefully this winter or spring I get some time to go over the adjustments again and see what happens. If it doesn't work out again, I'll be here looking for help. I also have a spare 938 that I plan to send in for a rebuild one day.

Welcome x 2. I see Idaho. We have another fellow here that hails from there. The trail and pines behind your Jeep look allot like the Black Hills of SD. Scout Pilot is the guy to ask about Jetting your carburator. As long as your 3B isn't florescent yellow, (LOL) we like your 3B. Grumpy will soon weigh in, I'm sure.

Welcome aboard to another 3B'er. It's good to have company cause those other flat fender boys think they have majority rule over the jeep universe! One more 'B' helps us close the gap!!

I have to say a huge THANK YOU to Scoutpilot for his tutorial about peening the accelerator check ball seat. I had done it in the past, trying to stop the constant flow of gas dribbling down the bore of my carb when the engine was running. It never occurred to me to not use the same check ball after giving it a whack! I changed the check ball yesterday per SP's advice and my prototype Barbie Jeep runs great, no gas mask required! The old check ball was definitely misshapen. Thanks so much!!
