Nice! I do remember the roots of this project. If you find some time, perhaps update the thread on the 3A Page? There is some decent activity over there, but it's mostly 3B guys. We need some 3A Juice!
Adjustments on steering today. Get this.. I want to cinch it down and finally cotter key some stuff. I went thru the drag link a year or more ago using the POs new unused replacement bagged kit-KW?Omix-Aintagonna work? Tightening the end plugs today and backing out a half turn no way insert a pin, not even close. Good thing I cleaned and bagged (some poor sob might need this junk) the old parts. Turns out i'm the poor sob. Reworked the draglink using old parts the replacement parts are in the shitter..
OD MULE MC51986 DOD 01-52 BUCKSNORT '50 CJ-3A "coming soon to a trail near you"!! We have Miles to Jeep before we Sleep! Uncommon Trailer Trash.
Omix you up. Yep, their expensive worm gear shaft is from the same batch as their drag link stuff. I sent it back to KW. be careful when asking Pete deBella if he sells Omix Ada. It sets him off. M38 bellcrank kits also. Junk. Waste of everyone's time. You are finding out what I found Muley!!!!
Got rid of the bumper mt lawnmower DOT approved fuel cell, plumbed in the seat tank, poured 5-GA no cornography 89 ran that little bastard 2hrs today-:"Bucksnort" is a beast to handle now, many adj needed..
Wanders all over the place, clutch adjustment not perfect, need to find the sweet spot on the tune, ampmeter not showing a charge. The jeep rides rougher than the M38 if that's possible, PO put all new springs on, do not know where he got them, probably KW.
Front fenders and hood mounted, looks like a real jeep now. Need to install a hood with no help? Here's a little trick.. (Bob W. gets credit for this one) Take (2) 1/4-20 X 1-1/2 hex bolts and "off with their heads" screw them into the outer bolt holes in the cowl. With the hood flat, slide it toward the cowl to engage the hinge to the 2 new locating studs, once engaged fold the windshield up-you have clear access to the middle 3 screw holes.. Easy-Peasy!! Time to take my clear title to DMV for plates, then a visit to Haggerty for ins. Gotta drive the beast to prove it out. Annie and I had never seen it assembled as it was in baskets when purchased. Me likey, Annie likey, Charlie likey..
Registered, Tagged and Insured! Cool! Lighting harness is installed and it all works, the PO included a complete repop harness NIB but he had ordered it W/O turn signals. I built a stand alone harness for turn signals and installed a Signal-Stat 900 just like the one in the OD Mule, works great. The POS KW brakelite switch (also provided by PO) had one of the elect terminals fall off when I tried to plug it in Jeez!! I don't want to replace it and have to bleed the system again so I went this route, (thx for the link and part# Shack!) ..

schimms15: Popped the hood on the crawler to check anti freeze. Glad I did. Was only good to 10F. Drained radiator. Refilled with -45F. Ran 30 minutes. Parked it for the season.
