First, reach inside while not running and see if he can pull the throw out rearwards. Besides the clutch linkage adjustment being correct with petal play as per manual, is the little return spring still good on the throw out bearing carrier? Passenger side of the carrier. If he can pull it back, he will be able to spin the throw out bearing with his finger if still good. Report back after this check. Read my second post

This guy is in PA. He's 80+ years old. Worked on a carb for him last year and now he calls me for any problem with the Jeep. Oh! and now he tells me it's a column shift.

This is fun. I like a mystery every now and then. Specially when it's the "other guy's" mystery.. I'm beginning to think that it's Professor Bubba in the garage with a monkey wrench.

Column shift you say? Hmmm ... Fred Caldwell has had intermittent issues at the FCT with the T-90 linkage on his CJ2. Stopped him dead in his tracks.

Did the rod between the Clutch pedal and the Clutch shaft break?, does the pedal move anything? 🙄 🧐 😮😅

I've had to tell a lot of people, "I can't fix 'em over the phone." Especially if you can't get good information. Either bring it to me or take it to someone else. I think I can understand why the "vendor is unsympathetic". B-dubya

Found the problem. A loose clutch pedal bolt. The pedal rotated slightly on the shaft and gave him a shorter throw.

There's a new Hardy Boys story coming up - " The Case of The Missing Key" ! B-dubya It was a dark and stormy night. Joe and Frank were driving their Dad's new 1948 Jeep through the forest on a shortcut to Nancy Drew's house. They were looking forward to the party. Joe said, "Frank, do you think she'll have some real Coca-cola? I just love Coke!" Frank looked sideways at his brother and smirked. "Not me, I'm a Ginger Ale kind of guy. Hey watch it! You're hitting those bumps kinda hard!" Just as he said that Joe launched the Jeep into the air and it came down with a bang. "Sorry" said Joe, "I didn't see those rocks. What the heck? Now I can't shift it. What's wrong? Did I break something? Stay tuned boys and girls for the continuing adventures of - - - "The Hardy Boys!!"

Lee😉 Yeah, kinda reminds me of a Christmas party I went to once, in my younger days. Everybody got to feeling Merry, until she got disgusted and went home. Then we all jumped for Joy, and she left too. So we all went down to the Conoco station and pumped Ethyl. B-dubya
