Hi there Rick/Anyone I saw your video on setting the float on YouTube and have followed the ajustment using a 3/8ths drill = 9.5mm approx I had to bend the float tab quite a lot to get it right as it was set high to about 5/8ths inch. However the engine was working fine for years with the float set like that. The second carb I have was also apparently set high to about 5/8ths so I was wondering before I set the second one why two carbs would be set so far away from the standard setting as you point out as 3/8th Any ideas as I want to get it right? thanks Kevin Chester, UK can you email me on telemation@btinternet.com or my registered email

In a prolonged high (45-50mph) speed run the fuel flow required to maintain that power setting may be interrupted because there won't be enough fuel in the bowl with a 5/8" float setting. Carter engineers determined that 3/8" is the optimal setting.
