Day two of graduation celebration: Motored from Crook City to Sturgis, up Marcott Plots Jeep trail through red cut (the one many slid down during another run) and made it through the Red willy Traps without incident. Jumped out on Galena road and traveled to Thompson Road, hung a left and along Old Ridge Road to the Nemo Road. Down Nemo road through Nemo and cut across to The Sugar Shack on hwy 385 for lunch. Sugar Burger and fries were as good as ever. Yum. From the Shack a short distance to the Rochford road. Stopped along the way on Riley Hill and drove two TR marked Jeep trails and back to the Rochford road. Past the site of the old Standby Mine and arrived in Rochford. Left at the Moonshine Gulch Saloon and drove 9 miles to FS 231 and Black Fox Campground where we stopped for a break at our well liked spot. Toilet was still available. From there we traveled up FS 233 to a trail that took us up over the mountain which had a elevation of 7000 ft. Popped out on FS209 which took us down to Hanna Creek Road. Then to Cheyenne Crossing , down to Savoy, and ended up going down spearfish Canyon to Spearfish. East on the service road to hwy. 85, left on to crook city Road and home. The fuel tank has about 1/4 " of gas left. Another tank spent, but what a round about day. Perfect weather.
If you get your maps out, or Avenza from the FS, you too can drive this route now.
The little go devil engine is purring. I'm well pleased.
