Have you run any diagnostic checks, like vacuum readings, temperatures, speed, etc.?

No, I have not. I am not equipped for that.

Your research is correct. Everything points to a 431. Except for possibly the bowl. Carter was not given to listing the bowl/main body. I can guess that an 853 body/bowl has been transplanted. Each designated bowl had its own unique characteristics when it came to fuel and vacuum passages, metered orifices and vents. Unfortunately again, they are not listed in the spec sheets. I’ll have to go deeper into the library for that info.

This video shows engine cold start. I pumped a few times and started the engine. After a few attempts I added a bit choke. Last part is about idle speed. It seems I do not have a PCV Valve. there is a funny looking steel connection below the elbow. I am wondering if I should install a PCV valve. The only reason I haven't done anything on the engine yet is that it runs great.

I see you have at least a Super Hurricane head on that motor. I’m not sure, but that may make a difference. We are in uncharted performance territory here. I can’t put my finger on the specs differences between it and the standard L-head right now. Perhaps someone else will jump in. In the meantime, I’ll look. This is unique to my knowledge.
