I changed out my 1/4" fuel lines for 5/16" today and added a NAPA #3032 inline fuel filter about 10" from the tank just inside the frame rail. I finished up, started the engine and checked for leaks. I didn't find any leaks and it runs good just as it did before.
I did notice, however, that the fuel level inside the fuel pump glass bowl was much lower than where it used to run before. I wondered if it was going to get enough fuel under a load so I took it for a drive. No issues whatever, but still very low in the bowl. I double checked to make sure the filter was installed in the correct direction and it is.
Ya'll think this means anything or not? I wondered if I could have an air pocket or something in the pump, but that just doesn't seem possible since the pump is working and running the engine.

As long as the fuel level in the pump bowl covers the brass screen, you're golden. The air pocket is necessary for maintaining pressure in the pump.
